21 months after dropping the project and enduring an ownership change, the machine shop that began this journey has finally completed the machining they've been contracted to do. As of Monday, September 16th we have picked up, in person, the remaining drums needed to complete our outstanding orders. We've begun sorting through and inspecting the drums and have already started processing them for completion and shipment. Over the coming weeks we will complete each item in the order received and ship via UPS Ground. Upon first glance, they have continued to do excellent work and we're thrilled to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Frankly, I never want to hear another US-based company complain about losing work to companies overseas. Arrowhead is going on its 20th month of having local, stateside machine shops simply not do the work they have been contracted to do. After agreeing to take on the Arrowhead brake drums in March of 2013, The Indy Cartel in Brownsburg IN has failed to produce a single, machined product they were contracted to do. Our untouched castings had to be picked up this month after having this shop sit on them and do nothing for over 4 months. Fortunately, the machine shop that has been doing our stuff for years but suffered a takeover of sorts in 2012 when the owner I had been working with fell ill, is now back and my favorite machinist that has done our drums for years is now cranking them out and hopes to have them all completed by September 9th, 2013! We couldn't be more thrilled! I'll be sending out an email to the handful of customers still waiting but it looks as though the saga has come to an end.
FANTASTIC NEWS! We have secured an amazing machinist to complete our outstanding orders and hope to have them all back in-house by mid April. This shop does high-end machine work for enormous global corporations and top fuel teams across the country. It's taken 9 months to find a capable replacement once the first shop went under and nobody has felt that pain more than us at Arrowhead! We're working with another group to keep the 8 lug legacy alive and as more information becomes available, we'll post it. For now we're just thrilled that we can get all of our customers on the road again. Thanks for hanging in there everyone!
It is with an enormous amount of regret and sadness that we at Arrowhead Components Inc. must close our doors and move on. We have worked tirelessly to overcome some enormous hurdles over the past few years, namely the securing of reputable and reliable facilities to handle our casting and machining. When those entities on that end of the chain produced as they committed to do, we were able to offer state-of-the art products that far exceeded the engineering and performance requirements they were ever intended to. As it happens, finding resources with the integrity and ability to carry out production was far more challenging than we ever dreamed. Producing these products outside the United States was never even a consideration and our faith in American quality and engineering remains unshaken.
The good news is, another name you know and love in the Pontiac world has shown interest in carrying on where we left off. Announcements will be made in all of the forums and publications that cater to our hobby the moment it becomes official. If you are currently awaiting completion of your order, we are in the process of securing yet another shop to graciously step in and finish the job the others couldn’t. At the moment, it appears as though your amazing patience should be rewarded with delivery this holiday season.
Arrowhead Components Inc. was able to fill a glaring void in the Pontiac hobby with a product that was both beautiful and functional. It was a dream achieved and one of which we are immensely proud. Words can not express the amount of gratitude we feel for the encouragement and support we have received over the years. Thank you all for all you’ve done. Have a safe and happy holiday season and happy Pontiac motoring!

We're about 75% done with all of the orders we have in! The new foundry has done beautiful work and we couldn't be happier. Another dozen are shipping this week and tracking numbers being sent to all recipients. If you have a pre-order in place or are waiting for a single drum from a prior order, hang in there. We're pumping them out as fast as we can!
Now we're getting somewhere! We'll be visiting the castings at our new foundry this week. Once they pass inspection, we deliver them to our machinist and begin processing each order in the order it was received. Each drum is created one-at-a-time and is a critical item in your Pontiac's ecosystem. There is no corner-cutting in this process. Thanks to those that have pre-ordered and have been waiting patiently. Each drum will be shipped the moment it comes back from machining, passes inspection and gets whatever added items such as races, studs, painting, polishing, etc. that were requested.
In addition, I want to pay special tribute to a customer of ours, Mike, that has passed on far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. His friend shared photos of his 64 GP with me and I asked if I may post them as a way of saying "thank you" for gracing your beautiful GP with our drums. Enjoy that great highway in the sky Mike...
Great news Pontiac fans! We've secured a new foundry and are in the process of cranking out our next run for the season! For the folks that have inquired and are waiting in line, I'll be contacting you all directly as this new run will be extremely limited so we can turn them out quickly and keep the quality impeccable. This run will all be made to order via pre-order to ensure all patrons that have been waiting patiently get their drums and are not left out. It's taken a lot of leg work to secure a foundry that appreciates how important it is for the little guys to be able to produce our products in the USA!
RICHIE'S 64 CAT WITH A ROW OF ACI 8 LUGS!
Well, the season is winding down for us here in the Great Lakes region and with every season comes change. We'll be experiencing some change as well. Arrowhead just learned that the foundry we've been using for the past 5 years is no longer able to fulfill our smaller, boutique-level production runs. They've been doing amazing work for us for half a decade and their relationship with the OEMs has them churning out parts runs of everything from turbochargers to cylinder heads in the thousands. That's fortunately good news for the U.S. manufacturing sector, but really not so great news for Arrowhead. Fortunately, we'll be working with another facility here in the U.S. and are not only thrilled with their ability to exceed our quality standards but really amped about their enthusiasm to bring a few new Arrowhead products to market! 2012 is going to be VERY exciting for Arrowhead and Pontiac fans around the world!
With this move to another facility, we're refraining from announcing the availability of our next run. Look for more info around the holidays. Feel free to drop me a line any time to check in. We've built a waiting list of folks for the next run so if you do need a set, please let me know what you need and I'll get you onto the ol' 8 lug waiting list spreadsheet! Thanks to EVERYONE for their interest and patronage. I can't wait for what we'll be doing in the months to come!

Although officially incorporated in September 2005, Arrowhead Components, Inc. was essentially created in July of 2004. At that time, a brainstorming session among several business owners in the Pontiac restoration hobby determined that the most conspicuous absence in the field was that of a replacement for the attractive, optional aluminum brake drum available on full size Pontiacs from 1960 to 1968.
That session launched an eight-month long quest for information and specifications to determine viability of re-creating this part. Researching the item required consultations with:
*Manufacturers around the country.
*Design engineers in the automotive and aerospace industry.
*Influential owners of businesses that currently reproduce and market items that cater to the Pontiac restoration industry.
*Instructors from the Cast Metals Institute.
*Members of the American Foundry Society.
*Editor and publisher of Modern Casting.
After exhaustive research, it was determined that not only could this item be reproduced successfully and accurately, but with improvements in engineering and longevity. As a result, Arrowhead Components, Inc. was created in August of 2005 and became officially incorporated in September 2005.
Arrowhead Components, Inc. was created to serve a number of automotive hobbyist needs and interests. Not only will ACI be bringing a replacement aluminum drum to the market for full size Pontiacs wearing the optional 8 lug brake drum, it will also provide additional parts and services to the market that may be of interest to Pontiac enthusiasts.
Currently ACI resin casts a number of unique 1:25th and 1:18th scale items for the automotive modeling community. In addition, John Piotrowski, founder and president of ACI, produces original illustrations for customer project cars in conjunction with FD Customs based in Lowell, IN.
Also, over the next several months and years, many products created for the Grand Prixs built between 1969 and 1972 will be produced. More on those items in the near future.
Arrowhead Components, Inc. looks forward to bringing you parts of the highest quality, made in America, to keep your big and beautiful Pontiacs on the road for decades to come!
